Roraima Magic Trek

Imagine exploring Monte Roraima, the world’s most famous tepuy. It’s not just any ordinary formation, but a fascinating bow-shaped wonder with a mysterious origin. Some even believe it’s the oldest formation on our planet – pretty mind-blowing, right? And here’s the cherry on top: you won’t be doing this trek alone. You’ll be joining a group of fellow adventurers who will become your companions throughout the journey 

Itinerary

Day 1
Puerto-Ordaz-Venezuela-TheGoldenShelter.es
Caracas – Puerto Ordaz

We took a direct flight from Simon Bolivar Airport - Puerto Ordaz. Night in Puerto Ordaz

Day 2

Puerto Ordaz – San Francisco de Yuruani (Kumarakapay)

Departure from Puerto Ordaz 5 am to San Francisco de Yuruani Kumarakapay camp. 

Day 3

Kumarakapay - Paraitepuy - Rio Tek

We will start the hike from Paraitepuy with 12 kilometers to Rio Tek camp with long straights on flat terrain and some climbs ranging from low to medium intensity. 

Day 4

Tek River - Base Camp

On this day we have to cross three rivers (Tëk, Kukenán, and Kamaiwa), then walk 8 kilometers of medium to high intensity climbs with a good part of the road with stones to increase the difficulty to reach Base Camp.

6 kilometers to cover with a long climb of high level this road will be full of fixed and loose stones with the always complicated passage of Las Lágrimas until arriving to the top of the Tepuy. of the Tepuy. 

Day 6

The longest day of the entire trekking with 20 kilometers to cover 10 outbound and 10 return to enjoy most of the surface of the Tepuy. Abismo, Ventana, Cañon del diablo, Salto Catedral, Jacuzzi, Carro Maverick, Grieta de Roraima, Cueva del Guacharo. Uneven terrain with technical ascents and descents and long straights over rocks.

Descent to Base Camp.

Base Camp - Paraitepuy - Kumarakapay

This day we started our way back home with the descent to Paraitepuy and then Kumarakapay. 

Day 9

After breakfast in Kumarakapay we will return to the city of Puerto Ordaz. 

Day 10

We finished the trip in Puerto Ordaz. We took the flight back to Caracas.

Transportation

  • City of origin – Caracas 
  • Round trip air ticket to Puerto Ordaz without stopover.  
  • Transfer from Puerto Ordaz airport to the lodge at the beginning and end of the trek.  
  • Transfer Puerto Ordaz – Paraitepuy – Puerto Ordaz. Depending on the number of participants, we will determine the unit that will take us to Gran Sabana.

Lodging

  • Lodging in Puerto Ordaz the night before leaving for the Gran Sabana with dinner and breakfast.  
  • Lodging in Gran Sabana the night before the start of the trek.  
  • Lodging in Gran Sabana the night at the end of the trek.  
  • Lodging in Puerto Ordaz at the end of the trek with dinner and breakfast.  

Half day at La Guachara, a warm water pool in the Gran Sabana to say goodbye to the tour. Farewell to the tour

Meals

  • Lunch on the road from Puerto Ordaz – Gran Sabana.  
  • Dinner the day before and breakfast at the beginning of the hike at the posada.  
  • Lunch, dinner, and breakfast at the end of the trek in Posada.  
  • All meals and drinks during the Roraima trekking.  
  • Routes and complete protein load.  
  • Guiding and its different walks on top of the mountain.  
  • Porters for meals, tents, and waste.  
  • Tents, insulators, inflatable mattress, and sleeping bag.  
  • Entrance to the park.  
  • Personal porter for 10 kilos of your load. If you exceed this weight you must pay an additional fee.  

What you need to bring

Clothing :

  • Poncho (waterproof and indispensable)
  •  Sweater for the cold (Indispensable).  
  • Pair of walking shoes (Indispensable). 
  • Two long pants of fast drying or lycra for walking and one of cotton for the cold. 
  • Long sleeve, quickdrying walking shirts or flannels.
  •  Bathing suit and absorbent leather (one of those yellow ones for drying vehicles will do).
  • Wide brimmed hat. 
  •  Crocs type Cholas (Indispensable).  
  • 6 to 8 pairs of socks, including two pairs of cloth sleeping socks.
  • Grip gloves. 
  • Gloves for the cold. 
  • Jacket for the cold can be Impermeable (Indispensable)
  • Balaclava for the cold.

Equipment :

  • Comfortable backpack, with capacity between 35 and 75 lts, with lumbar support (Indispensable).  
  • Cooler of 1lts or any plastic bottle. 
  • Light flashlight, can be frontal or handheld (Indispensable). 
  • Click bags and black bags to keep dry our clothes and travel items.  
  • Toilet paper.  
  • Toilet soap (Blue Keys is biodegradable) STRICT.

Other supplies :

  • Personal medications for muscle pain, joint pain, fever, headache, diarrhea, colds and surgical adhesive (Indispensable).  
  • Sunscreen and repellent (waterproof).
  • Cookies, chocolate, chocolate and lots of chocolate, candies, energy bars and assorted grains can give you extra energy on each hike.  
  • You can bring a bottle of liquor in a plastic container for the cold.
